Meet Tricia Coletto...
Do you know why archaeology is SO important?
Archaeology is a time machine and archaeologists are the time travelers. Through our work we piece together the jigsaw puzzle of history. We brave heat and cold, snakes and scorpions, dirt and grime, aching bodies, and often countries mired in political unrest. Why do we do it you ask? We do it to tell the tale of those who lived so long ago. We do it because we are the frontline caretakers of humanity's past.
Most often our work is presented only in academic publications and conference papers. Some of us, however, believe that archaeology is too important to remain cloistered in the ivory towers of academia. Our passion for the ancient world and what our work reveals about ALL of our shared history and common humanity should be disseminated wide and far. The Meet the Archaeologist program does just that.
